Five letter dials, one secret word. Every try says later or earlier, dial by dial.
Crack the five-dial letter lock. Its combination is a secret five-letter word, and you crack it by spelling real words on the dials. After every try, each dial clicks on its own: locked if its letter is right, or an arrow saying the secret letter comes later in the alphabet (toward Z) or earlier (toward A). Every dial keeps the window of letters it can still hold, so each try narrows the field. The fun is finding a real word whose letters split those windows: a few good tries and all five dials click open. There's no limit on tries, and every secret is a common, everyday word. On Plocky everyone gets the same lock each day. The daily leaderboard ranks the fewest tries, with time breaking ties, and you can copy a spoiler-free result to share. Numbered practice locks are there whenever you want another.
